The Berkley Steelers Cheerleaders truly are the Heart, Soul and Pride of our organization. Their cheers help the football team to victory each week, and their smiles and friendships last a lifetime.
If you are interested in becoming a Steelers Cheerleader, contact us and we would be happy to sign you up.
All are welcome, as we fill kids from Berkley, Huntington Woods, Oak Park, Southfield, Ferndale, Pleasant Ridge, Hazel Park, Troy, Detroit, Pontiac, Beverly Hills, and all over Metro Detroit.
Come show us you have what it takes to be the loudest, proudest and best Cheer the area has to offer!
As the Season winds down, our girls are ramping up for the CHEER OFF, one of the best and loudest events around. Come Cheer on our girls as they have done for us all season long.
INFO FROM THE GM - MICHELLE ROWLETT
Hi! I’m Michelle Rowlett and I’m SO happy you’re here! A little about me, I was born and raised right here in Berkley. My daughter and I have been with the Steelers for 4 years now and I was even a cheerleader myself in high school! (Go Bears!) That fun voice you hear announcing the home games is my husband (also a Berkley Bear). And you can usually find my son at the concession stand.
Here is some helpful info about what you can expect from cheer:
Our practices start at the beginning of August. Prior to the start of school, practices will be held four days per week (Mon, Tues, Wed and Thursday). The times are tentatively set for 6-8pm.
Once school and games start, Varsity, JV, and Freshman Cheer will practice three days a week 6 pm – 8 pm. Flag will practice three days a week 6pm – 7:00pm.
As we prepare for Cheer-off during the month of October, Freshman, JV, and Varsity may extend practices until 8:00 pm and additional practices may be added. Practice times, locations, and days are at the discretion of the Cheer General Manager, within league rules. Detailed calendars will be distributed monthly.
Attendance at practice and games is super important! Everyone is integral to stunts and routines, and many skills cannot be performed with even one person missing. If any cheerleader misses more than one scheduled practice in a week, rules state that they will not be allowed to cheer at that week’s game. If any cheerleader misses more than 2 games, they will not be eligible to compete in Cheer-off.
Cheer-off will be held on November 5, 2022 and competing is required for all cheerleaders. All practices two weeks prior to Cheer-off are mandatory and absences should be limited to illness only. *If anything else comes up, please, please don’t hesitate to contact me!
Cheerleaders are expected to cheer at all football games, which could be on Saturdays or Sundays, including playoff games. Play-off games extend through the first week in November.
Cheerleaders should always follow the Cheer Oath:
I will..
Cheer my heart out
Help others
Encourage
Entertain
Respect my peers, coaches and GM
If you are interested in coaching or helping with a squad, please reach out to me! I’m willing to work with your schedule and I’d love to have you!
